Doterra ginger oil isn’t apart of history yet but ginger has been used for thousands of years in almost every culture in the world
Historically, gingersnap recipes have been traced back to 13th century German Monks, however the use if ginger is found in China’s history as early as 2000 BC.
Recipes came to the North American shores via the English colonists and have once again passed through the generations to now reside on the worldly lectern of the internet. Therein lie the many variety, though none as tasty as this. Or, at least as natural as our ancestral past would create. Gingersnaps are referred and favored to as biscuits, cookies, and even breads and cakes.

Today let us review the healthy side of using ginger oil for cooking. It has been used a decongestant and antihistamine. It can be used to treat motion sickness and dizziness. To reduce inflammation associated with arthritis. It has been used treat digestive issues, morning sickness and general nausea as well as rheumatic fever. Personally, I know my grandmother treated me as a young child with a salve made from ginger. It was rubbed on my chest when I suffered though a case of rheumatic fever. To that end our historical past shows it was considered medicinal. It is one of the three essential oils I add to my the daily water I drink . It assists in the battle of general body inflammation which according to today’s medical community is a foundation for ailments and some chronic diseases.
And that happily brings us to the needed ingredients for our doTERRA Snappy Cookies.
- 3/4 c Butter softened
- 2 c Granulated Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 2 c All Purpose Flour
- 2 tspn Baking Soda
- 1/2 tspn Salt
- 1/4 c Molasses
- and a container of sugar of choice for coating the cookies before baking
And of cours the doTERRA essential oil power ingredients
- 2 drops Doterra Cinnamon oil
- 1 drop Doterra ginger oil
- 1 drop Doterra Clove oil
- 1 drop Doterra Lemon oil
Now the fun begins with heating the oven to 350 degrees.
Combine the sugar and softened butter till creamy using an electric mixer. When creamy, add the egg. Measure out the molasses and mix in the oils. Add the molasses-oil mix to the butter-egg mix.
In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
When the dry ingredients are thoroughly combined add them to the wet ingredients and mix thoroughly. When dough is thoroughly mixed begin rolling into 1 inch balls.
After forming the dough into balls roll them in the sugar of choice and place on your baking sheet 2 inches apart. Bake the cookies for appx. 8 minutes. After cookies are baked place them on a cooling rack. If wishing to partially coat the cookies with a yummy glaze after cooling, or if you may chill them while you prepare the coating as follows.
For that classy white chocolate coating:
- 2 bags white chocolate chips
- 1 drop Doterra cinnamon oil
- 1 drop Doterra lemon oil
Melt the chocolate and add the cinnamon and lemon oils as you stir coating thoroughly. Dip each cookie half way into mixture and place on waxed paper.
